Sunflower

Faith is to believe what you do and not yet see; the reward is to see what you believe…

As what many believe, sunflowers exhibit heliotropism. At sunrise, most sunflowers turn towards the east. Over the course of the day, they track the sun from the east to the west. At the end of the day, these sunflowers return to an eastward orientation. However, this phenomenon is only prevalent during the budding stage. As sunflowers began to bloom, their stems stiffen. The blooming sunflowers then freeze at an eastward orientation.

Like the sunflower, my childhood was always facing brightness. Days were cheerful, bright and gay… At times, there were rain and thunderstorm, but facing the Sun was a continuous habit from dawn till dusk, until I reached the sleeping mode. As I grow, this habit ceases. Brightness is for the morning, and towards the day, the Sun rises above my head. Eventually, it sets behind me and sets me into a total darkness. I discover sadness, loneliness and heartaches. I do not like the demons night brings… I look forward for daylight every night…
